Fell & Sell Demo vs Full Release

What July's demo taught you — and what August 26 actually added.

Demo vs Full Release

The Fell & Sell demo opened on July 10, 2026. The full game launched on August 26, 2026 for Windows on Steam. If you already ran a shop in the demo, you are not starting from zero — but you also should not assume the July map is the whole game. This page is the honest split: what carried over, what is new, and whether to keep your demo save.

Price and platforms

The full game is a paid Steam title (about $9.99 USD at list, with a launch discount that reached 10% / $8.99 after the wishlist community challenge). It is single-player, Windows only, with Steam Cloud and 97 achievements. There is no co-op. App 4881440 on Steam is the demo, not a DLC pack — older wiki notes that called it DLC were wrong.

Languages on the store page include English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish. Traditional Chinese arrived in Demo Update #4.

What the demo already taught you

The demo is the Shallow Dungeon loop: leave the roadside cabin, fight skeletons, grab mats, craft a bench and a broken sword, tag prices, and talk to customers to collect coin. Grandma’s inheritance is the story hook. You learn death-loss, the Quest Board, and that empty tables sell nothing.

Demo patches then piled on systems the full game still uses: rebindable keys, RMB pricing on tables, save trash-can delete, confirm-new-game, endless dungeon re-entry after the demo story beat, armor racks that are not fussy, shop buffs that apply in the dungeon, and later Demo 2.0 (destructible rooms, 30–40% more FPS, more customers, comfort affecting neighborhood traffic, cheaper crafts, transaction scroll on the counter, double-tap dash, location nameplates).

Demo 2.0.1 added furniture scrolls, toggle sprint/crouch, and hold-to-open Tab. Those are full-game habits now.

What the full release adds

Steam’s own biome preview names three underground layers. The Shallow Dungeon is the demo’s home, expanded with extra special rooms and skeleton variants. The Overgrown Dungeon is nature reclaiming stone — goblins, not skeletons, own the turf. The Darkest Dungeon is low light, soul-river glow, armored skeletons, and Necromancers who sling ranged magic and raise zombies. Each zone ends in a boss; beating them is how you step into the next biome.

The Living Forest remains the outdoor forage loop: goblin raids, thunderstorms, psychedelic mushroom season. Full release also promised more weapons, shop upgrades, and items than the demo’s short catalog. Launch-day notes still asked keyboard players to wait a day or two for controller support.

Saves, furniture, and whether to start new

Demo policy was explicit: progress, loot, and coins carry into the full game, and everyone who played the demo gets an exclusive furniture piece. Version 1.0.1 had to fix that reward actually appearing in inventory. The studio still recommends a brand-new save so you see the full intro, biome gating, and economy from the first cabin — carry-over is allowed, not required.

If your demo file felt broken (Update #4 apologized for save corruption, then added quest/save safeguards), start fresh. If it was healthy and you liked your shop layout, you can continue — just know deeper biomes and bosses were never in that file’s original ceiling.

Launch patches you should be on

1.0.1 — demo furniture grant, HUD bars past 250 stats, FOV toward 40, translation fixes.

1.0.2 — dungeon generator no longer sealing the only path, freeze-on-floor-load fix, doors stay open, overload no longer deletes swapped weapons, stack-equip takes one item, FOV 40 confirmed, more audio routing and localization fills.

New biome strategy: Dungeon Biomes and Bosses. If you kept a demo shop, refresh Shop Upgrades and Furniture before you dive the Overgrown Dungeon under-geared.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Does my demo save work in the full game?

Yes, loot and coins can carry over. Art Games Studio still recommends starting a new file so you experience the full release from the cabin tutorial onward.

Where is my demo furniture reward?

It should appear in inventory after 1.0.1. If you launched on 1.0.0 and saw nothing, update. The piece is meant to persist even on new playthroughs.

Is Steam app 4881440 a DLC?

No. That ID is the demo. The full game is app 4627110. Do not wait on that ID for expansion content.

What is the biggest full-game addition if I finished the demo?

The extra biomes and bosses. Overgrown Dungeon goblins and Darkest Dungeon necromancers are the jump in difficulty and loot quality the demo could not show.
