Fell & Sell Save System

Save fixes, backup, and how to recover.

Last updated:

Save System

The save system in Fell & Sell handles your entire game state: shop inventory, crafting materials, house decorations, quest progress, and character progression. A save problem can look like a shop problem, an item problem, or a Quest Board problem. This guide explains the Ver. 1.1.1 fixes, known save issues, and recovery options.

Ver. 1.1.1 save fixes

The August 29, 2026 update delivered the most significant save system changes since launch:

IssueStatusWhat to do
House items disappearing on loadFixed in Ver. 1.1.1Update and verify furniture persists after reloading
Save crashes and auto-save stutteringImproved in Ver. 1.1.1Less hitching during auto-save
Unnamed save filesImproved in Ver. 1.1.1Saves should now use proper names
Quest Board progress resetRestored in Ver. 1.1.1Board state now persists between sessions
Stuck during a runAdded: Unstuck buttonUse the button instead of force-closing
Need to exit safely with haulAdded: Return to VillageExit runs without dying and losing your loot

Update to Ver. 1.1.1 before continuing any save that had problems.

Save file location

Fell & Sell stores save files in the Windows local app data directory:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Art Games Studio SA\Fell_Sell\*

On most systems this resolves to:

C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Art Games Studio SA\Fell_Sell\

The save files use a structured format. Steam Cloud sync may also store a copy depending on your Steam settings.

Multiple saves

Fell & Sell supports multiple save slots. Each slot appears as a separate file in the save directory. To back up a specific save:

  1. Navigate to the save directory
  2. Copy the contents of the desired slot folder
  3. Paste to a backup location

Steam Cloud may sync saves automatically. If you use Steam Cloud, note that local backups may be overwritten when Steam syncs.

Backup recommendation

Before testing any recovery options or accepting game updates that change save mechanics, back up your current save:

  1. Close the game completely
  2. Navigate to the save directory
  3. Copy the entire Fell_Sell folder to a backup location
  4. Restart the game

This protects against progress loss if something goes wrong during recovery attempts.

Common save problems and fixes

House items disappeared

This was a known bug that affected saves created before Ver. 1.1.1. Update to the latest version, then verify that furniture and decorations persist after reloading. If items still disappear after updating, contact support with your save file and version number.

Quest Board progress missing

Empty Quest Boards or reset progress were fixed in Ver. 1.1.1. Update, then complete a new expedition and verify the board records your achievements after the run.

Save file corrupted

If a save file is unreadable, the game typically creates a new slot. Your best recovery option is a pre-corruption backup. This is why regular backups matter.

Item duplication and missing items

Ver. 1.1.1 closed the item duplication exploit. If items showed as missing or duplicated in older saves, a fresh run after updating should show correct item counts.

When to contact support

If a problem persists after updating to Ver. 1.1.1, contact Art Games Studio support with: your Steam build version, what was lost, when the problem first appeared, whether Steam Cloud sync was enabled, and whether the save was created before or after the Ver. 1.1.1 update.
